Santa Fe Brewing Company
No city can be complete without it’s own micro brewery these days. The current incarnation of the Santa Fe Brewing Company was established in 1988 using equipment from a defunct brewery. The brewery is located at 35 Fire Place Santa Fe, NM 87508 and is open for tours at noon on Saturday, followed by a tasting of their beers for those of us over the ripe old age of 21. Additionally the brewery has an pub and grill adjoining it where you can get breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week from 7:00am to 10:00pm.
What truly endeared my to this brewery was their special brew known as Chicken Killer Barley Wine. With a 10.0 Alcohol, this brew is temptation in a bottle waiting to be guzzled. What really intrigues me about it is that it is billed as a Barley Wine. I have never had the chance to partake in such a beverage, but I am more than eager to try it. Besides, with a name like Chicken Killer, how can you go wrong?
Going through the menu of the adjoining Pub & Grill I found the items on there to be extremely reasonably priced. No item was listed in the double digits with the highest priced item being a $7.50 base going to $9.00 with extras added on. You could easily get an appetizer, sandwich, and beer for under $20. The Pub & Grill has a pretty nice looking set-up with a game room, pool table, foosball, and outdoor patio. They also tout a large dining room able to accommodate groups. Live music events seem to happen there quite often, and on the evening of April 25 they will be having PO’ Girl performing there live with a $25.00 ticket price.
Although the hours do seem to close a little early for the usual late night taste… it can definitely be an option for a breakfast, lunch, or recreational Saturday afternoon as well.
